Eve Love’s bio: Eve Love, a native of St. Mary’s County, is an ardent student of history and genealogy. Her interest in family history began as a young adult listening to family stories. She has taught genealogy classes at the College of Southern Maryland. Eve lives near Historic Sotterley and volunteers there in the Colonial Revival Garden and as a docent during tour season. She is a volunteer member of the St. Mary’s County Historic Preservation Committee and a long-time member of the historical society.

Eve assisted her husband, John Cook, with scanning, typing, and compiling data for “Before the Base.” John’s early years were in Lexington Park. As a teenager he lived in St. Mary’s City where he forged his interest in local history, finding arrow heads in the freshly plowed fields and assisting the early digs at St. John’s site. He dives into his research to find the history and backstory of any item or event. John is a retired elementary school teacher but continues to teach for the Museum Studies Program at St. Mary’s College of Maryland.
