Legislative Scholarship Opportunity
If you reside in North St. Mary’s County (District 29A) and want to attend college, there is an opportunity for you! Every year, Senators and Delegates from the Maryland General Assembly have scholarship funds explicitly designated for their constituents who wish to pursue higher education- these scholarships could be yours with a few simple steps! So take advantage of this chance and see if you qualify today for my Maryland House of Delegates Scholarship.
Eligible Majors
All students living in District 29A with in-state majors can apply for this scholarship. In addition, students attending an out-of-state school may qualify if their major is not offered at any Maryland School.
Out-of-State Exceptions
- Award recipients may use this scholarship at an out-of-state school if their major is unavailable at any Maryland institution and if your legislator agrees. The 2025-2026 Unique Major Application will open on March 15 and close on July 1. You will need to visit the MHEC website to access the waiver application form.
- Scholarships can be used at out-of-state institutions if the applicant is on active duty with the U.S. Military and domiciled in the state.
- The scholarship may be used out-of-state if the student is disabled and studying at an institution outside the state that makes special provisions for disabled students not available to the applicant at an institution in Maryland.

Applications must be received by May 1, 2025, to be considered for the scholarship award. This scholarship is open to both full-time (12+ credits undergraduate or 9+ credits graduate per semester) and part-time (6-11 credits undergraduate or 6-8 credits graduate per semester) students pursuing a postsecondary credential at any two- or four-year college, university, or private career school in Maryland.
